Michael began his career by winning his first Texas Supreme Court case as a first-year attorney in the case of Yanes v. Sowards, 996 S.W.2d 849, 850 (Tex. 1999) helping establish the right to a trial by jury in civil cases. Michael then went on to become one of the youngest attorneys to settle $5,000,000.00 in cases as a third-year attorney, bringing in another $30,000,000.00 in cases, and securing a spot for his firm on the Multidistrict Litigation's Steering Committee which resulted in a $1.154 billion pharmaceutical mass toxic tort settlement.

Following this move, Michael then worked at a large law firm while also appearing as a frequent Legal Correspondent for cable news on the national stage with over 3 million viewers per segment, covering notable trials such as OJ Simpson, the Anna Nicole Smith death case, and many more.
